Los esperamos! SIMCE: Inglés - 13-NovEl día Martes 13 de Noviembre se aplicará el SIMCE de Inglés versión 2012. La prueba, que está a cargo del Ministerio de Educación, se realizará en salas de Castellano y dura toda la mañana (de 08:30 a 13:00). El almuerzo y las posteriores clases siguen en horario NORMAL.
Tallarinata SolidariaEl Jueves 25 de Octubre algunos alumnos voluntarios participaron como garzones en la Tallarinata solidaria de la Fundación Esperanza. La iniciativa (apoyada por los 3ros básicos) fue todo un éxito y el compromiso y ganas de nuestro nivel quedó de manifiesto al quedarse más allá de las 23:00 hrs. para ayudar. Felicitaciones!
Servicio social: Las Creches y PuelmapuHemos seguido con nuestros 2 planes de acción social. En Puelmapu, las clases de inglés llegarán a término el próximo día Lunes 12 de Noviembre. Después de eso haremos una evaluación y definiremos los pasos a seguir.
Por otro lado, Las Creches termina el día Miércoles 28 de Noviembre, cuando es la última visita formal. Pero, el día 12 de Diciembre le daremos una sorpresa a las niñas del hogar, terminando con una convivencia. Benjamín de VidtsBenjamín performed very well on Copa Alemania 2012 Gymnastic Competition, held 2 weeks ago in Club Manquehue in Santiago.
Benjamin obtained first place (Gold Medal) in Floor competition (competencia de suelo) and also first place (Gold Medal) on Vault competition (Competencia de salto). He also achieved as a team the cup for the first place (team Manquehue). SIT students visitHace algunos días un grupo de alumnos de SIT visitó nuestro colegio para conocer el estilo de trabajo y el plan académico de The Grange. Asimismo hubo intercambio de ideas y reflexiones y algunos de nuestros alumnos voluntarios y el School Council compartieron un café y galletas con los visitantes, pudiendo comparar estilos de aprendizaje, métodos de estudio, visión del futuro laboral y otros. Sin duda una experiencia enriquecedora!

Siguiendo con nuestra unidad de PSHE y respondiendo a los intereses de los alumnos, tendremos algunas actividades con miras al futuro vocacional y laboral de cada uno.
La primera será la confección de un CV . Luego, terminaremos de responder -y luego analizar- nuestra encuesta digital de carreras 2012 y en seguida nos adentraremos en la Inmersión Laboral. Nuevo proyecto de servicio socialColegio Puelmapu
Varios alumnos del nivel guiados por el profesor James Tucker están embarcados en un nuevo proyecto de servicio social: clases de inglés para el Colegio Puelmapu de Peñalolén. El interés que hubo por esta idea fue inmediato y los alumnos Grange ya comenzaron a trabajar en 'training sessions' para adquirir técnicas pedagógicas y didácticas para enseñar a los alumnos Puelmapu. Todos los lunes de 16 a 17 están siendo entrenados por algunos profesores del colegio.
El trabajo in situ comenzará después del break de Septiembre, esto es, el lunes 24. Mucho éxito en esta nueva actividad! Torneo de Debate UDPLamentablemente, la última jornada de este torneo no fue exitosa para nosotros. El día Miércoles 29 de Agosto y con el tema "debe permitirse la venta libre de medicamentos en el retail, el equipo de The Grange School fue derrotado, por muy poca diferencia en el puntaje final por el combinado del Santiago College. Este Martes 4 presentarán como equipo investigador.
De todas formas, nuestros alumnos ganaron experiencia y nuevos conocimientos en esta experiencia y aún hay una posibilidad de pasar a la ronda siguiente como mejores perdedores. Fingers crossed! Mr. Rob Hollingsworth FarewellMr. Rob Hollingsworth
El día 24 de Agosto Mr. Rob Hollingsworth dejó The Grange School luego de 4 y medio años de fructífera labor. Para despedirlo, el Pastoral team de 3ro, alumnos, profesores y delegadas organizaron algunas actividades. Primero un assembly especial en la mañana, donde se homenajeó a Mr. Rob, se le entregaron algunos regalos y se le dio la despedida oficial de parte del colegio en palabras de la Miss Irene Villarroel, Deputy Head of Senior School. Asimismo, se mostró un video elaborado por el Mr. James Tucker en conjunto con algunos alumnos, donde muchas personas del colegio dieron un mensaje de despedida para Mr. Rob. Obviamente, este video se le entregó como regalo. Además, los presidentes de curso -que ya habían tenido un almuerzo de despedida oficial- hicieron uso de la palabra y entregaron un regalo de nivel, consistente en una croquera con mensajes y buenos deseos de un gran número de amigos, alumnos y profesores, quienes firmaron cada hoja. Luego, a las 10:00, se hizo un desayuno especial donde abrazos y risas se encargaron de decir adiós a Mr. Rob. En ese momento algunos alumnos de 4 medio y otros profesores también pudieron despedirse del que fuera Jefe de nivel por 2 años. Ahí, las delegadas y otras personas hicieron más regalos a Mr. Rob y todos pudieron disfrutar de un exquisito chocolate caliente y trozos de queque y galletas. Le deseamos a Mr. Rob Hollingskworth la mejor de las suerte en cualquiera sea el camino que emprenda, que estamos seguros será de lo más exitoso. Buen viaje Rob! Senior Music DayEn el colegio St. John's de Concepción se realizó una nueva versión de este encuentro. La delegación de The Grange School tuvo una destacada participación, que incluyó a algunas alumnas del nivel. Luego de mostrar los trabajos individuales, todos los participantes se unieron en una pieza final.

First of all, big thanks to all who came last night and also those who gave chocolates. It was a great trip. I spoke to the Director and she said we could visit also on Mondays. However, we could not begin until 5pm and would work until 6pm. That means we would get back to school later, around 6.20. Therefore I would like to form two groups of around 30, one for Mondays and one for Wednesdays. Please let me know if you are interested...
